Lennie: “bleated with terror” The word choice of “bleated” is associated with animals and has suggestions of being vulnerable, innocent and in pain. It evokes sympathy for the reader.

Lennie: vulnerable/  not smart/ physically strong / clumsy/ danger to himself and others.
